Orizn on Kayak — visa requirements while you search
Kayak's URL structure makes it one of the easiest sites to detect destinations on — the route is right there in the path (e.g. /flights/PAR-OSA/...). Orizn reads it before the first price card loads and shows visa info under the brand navbar.

What you see when you search on Kayak
Bar location: Just below Kayak's orange brand header, above the matrix of result cards.
- 1
You pick a route in Kayak's search box
The URL transforms into /flights/{ORIGIN}-{DEST}/{DATE}. Orizn parses both IATA codes the second they land in the URL — even before Kayak finishes loading prices.
- 2
Visa bar appears with destination flag
Orange-themed to match Kayak's palette, the bar shows the destination country flag, your passport status (visa-free / eVisa / required), and the maximum stay.
- 3
Change date or stops — bar stays accurate
Kayak rewrites the URL when you tweak filters; Orizn re-parses on every URL change. The bar follows you through Hacker Fares and multi-city flows too.
Detection
URL patterns we detect on Kayak
Orizn reads the destination from the URL — no API call to Kayak, no personal data shared. Here are the shapes we recognize.
https://www.kayak.com/flights/PAR-OSA/2026-03-15PAR-OSA splits on the hyphen — left side is origin (Paris), right side is destination (Osaka). Maps IATA → ISO3 → country.
https://www.kayak.com/flights/JFK-BKK/2026-04-01/2026-04-20Round trips use a second date segment. Destination remains the second IATA token.
https://www.kayak.com/flights/JFK-BKK,BKK-NRT/2026-04-01/2026-04-10Comma-separated multi-city legs. Orizn tracks the FINAL destination as primary and surfaces each leg in the expanded view.
https://www.kayak.{tld}/flights/{ORIGIN}-{DEST}/... (any country TLD)Works on .com, .co.uk, .fr, .de, .ca, .jp, .com.au — Orizn uses the same path-based parsing across every Kayak locale.
Power users
Tips for power users of Kayak
5 non-obvious moves that make the visa bar more useful on Kayak.
Use Hacker Fares without losing visa context
Kayak's Hacker Fares chain two one-way tickets from different airlines. The bar still shows the final destination's visa rules, so you don't get blindsided on the connecting leg.
Multi-city: open the expanded view
Click the bar to open the full panel. Each leg gets its own row so you can confirm any layover country that requires transit visas.
Country-specific Kayak (.fr, .jp, etc) works identically
All Kayak locales use the same URL pattern. Your visa data follows you across .com, .co.uk, .fr, .de, .ca, .jp, .com.au.
Pin destinations to compare visa friction
Click the pin icon on the bar to save up to 5 destinations. The popup then shows them side-by-side — useful for picking the lowest-friction visa-free option.
Bar respects Kayak's dark mode
If you have Kayak's dark theme on (or your OS is in dark mode), the bar inherits a darker variant automatically.
FAQ
Questions about Orizn on Kayak
Does Orizn work on Kayak.com's mobile site?
Yes, but only in Chrome on Android — extensions still aren't allowed in mobile Safari. Most users get more value from the desktop flow anyway.
Will the bar interfere with Kayak's price alerts?
No. The bar lives in its own injected container and doesn't modify Kayak's React tree.
Can I see visa info before clicking a flight?
Yes — that's the whole point. The bar shows visa status while you're still browsing the result list, not after you've committed.
Does the bar show for hotels and cars too?
Flights and hotels yes; cars no. Renting a car doesn't change visa requirements so we skip those pages.
Why is my destination sometimes wrong on Hacker Fares?
Edge case: when Kayak shuffles the leg order in the URL we bias toward the LAST destination. Open the bar's expanded view to see every leg explicitly.
