Orizn on Skyscanner — visa requirements while you search

Skyscanner is the multi-locale champion: 30+ TLDs, 18+ languages. Orizn's detector is built on Skyscanner's stable transport URL contract so it works the same on .net, .co.uk, .fr, .jp, .com.tr, .ru, etc.

What you see when you search on Skyscanner

Bar location: Pinned to the right of the date selector, inside Skyscanner's blue results header.

  1. 1

Search a route on any Skyscanner locale

The URL takes the form /transport/flights/{ORIGIN_CITY}/{DEST_CITY}/.... Orizn parses both city codes (LON, BCN, OSAA, etc) regardless of the TLD or display language.

  2. 2

Visa bar slides in with blue accents

Themed to Skyscanner's signature blue, the bar surfaces visa status, max stay, and a 'show details' affordance — without competing with the price card visual hierarchy.

  3. 3

Flip between Everywhere → Country → City

Skyscanner's iconic 'Everywhere' search means destinations change rapidly. Orizn responds to every URL update so the bar always matches what's on screen.

Detection

URL patterns we detect on Skyscanner

Orizn reads the destination from the URL — no API call to Skyscanner, no personal data shared. Here are the shapes we recognize.

https://www.skyscanner.net/transport/flights/lhr/bkk/260315/260322/...

Three-letter city or airport codes after /transport/flights/. Right side is the destination.

Resolves to:🇹🇭 Thailand
https://www.skyscanner.fr/transport/vols/par/osaa/260315/...

French locale uses /transport/vols/. Same code structure — destination is the second token.

Resolves to:🇯🇵 Japan
https://www.skyscanner.co.uk/transport/flights/{ORIGIN}/anywhere/...

Skyscanner's Everywhere search uses the literal token `anywhere`. The bar hides until you pick a real destination.

Resolves to:
https://www.skyscanner.jp/transport/flights/{ORIGIN}/{DEST}-country/...

Country-level browsing uses a `{ISO}-country` suffix. Orizn maps the ISO directly without needing IATA.

Resolves to:🇪🇸 Spain (es-country)

Power users

Tips for power users of Skyscanner

5 non-obvious moves that make the visa bar more useful on Skyscanner.

Combine with Skyscanner's Map view

Switch results to Map mode and hover countries — Orizn updates the bar as you hover, letting you scout visa-free zones by region.

Use Anywhere for visa-friendly trip planning

Search {YOUR_CITY} → Anywhere with a budget cap, then click into each suggestion. The bar tells you which are visa-free under your passport before you commit.

Bar matches your Skyscanner currency

If you've set Skyscanner to EUR or JPY, the bar mirrors the currency in cost callouts (visa fees, etc.) for parity with the page.

Direct flights filter doesn't affect detection

Toggling Direct only / 1 stop / 2 stops never changes the destination, so the visa bar stays steady.

Use the 'My Passport' shortcut

Open the popup → swap passport in two clicks to compare what your spouse or co-traveler would need. The bar redraws on the next URL change.

FAQ

Questions about Orizn on Skyscanner

Does Orizn support every Skyscanner TLD?

Yes — the script matches *.skyscanner.* so all 30+ country TLDs trigger the same logic.

Will the bar show on the Skyscanner mobile web?

On Chrome Android: yes. On iOS Safari: not without Orizn for Safari (in development).

What about Skyscanner's hotel and car rental pages?

Hotels yes (we detect city-level destinations), cars no.

Does it work in incognito?

Yes, if you allow the extension to run in incognito (toggle in chrome://extensions).

Why is the bar sometimes blue and sometimes purple?

Blue matches Skyscanner. Purple is Orizn's default brand when our content script can't read the host theme — for example on first-page load before the JS theme provider mounts.
